Overdraft Services

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your Checking account to cover a transaction. Fort Bragg FCU offers overdraft services such as a link to a Savings account or a Line of Credit (LOC) loan account. These plans provide you with a safety net by withdrawing funds from one of these accounts to cover a transaction. These plans can be used only when funds are available to transfer and may be cheaper than our other overdraft service.

Overdraft Protection
Overdraft Protection is a service Fort Bragg FCU offers which is simply a Savings account or Line of Credit Loan that is attached to your Checking account. When you overdraw your Checking account, we will transfer the money from your Savings or Line of Credit into your account to cover the negative balance. There is no additional fee to do this if we transfer from your Savings account. However, if your Line of Credit was used, you will additionally pay interest on the money that was transferred in order to cover the overdraft. Contact a Member Service Representative to arrange this service or email a secure message.

Overdraft Privilege*
Our Overdraft Privilege service, (sometimes referred to as “ODP”), allows us to pay an item presented against your Checking account even if it causes the account to become overdrawn. ODP is not a line of credit loan. Fort Bragg FCU pays a maximum of $500 which includes any overdraft fees assessed. The current fee assessed for this service is $25 per item paid. You must Opt-in for the use of this service.

ODP will be available to you through:

• the use of any check
• via electronic draft (ACH)
• using an ATM
• your FBFCU Visa Check Card (debit)**
• a branch teller***

In order to use ODP with your ATM transactions or one-time signature/debit card transactions, you must Opt-in (affirmative consent) by acknowledging that you desire coverage for plastic cards.

*Fort Bragg FCU does not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of overdraft transaction.
**Visa Check Card transactions includes all transactions you authorize either in writing, verbally, electronically, or with the use of your personal ID number or signature.
***A maximum of $300 (including fees) allowed over the counter through a branch teller.
